Generating new revenue streams for a premier slush brand

The Brief

One of the UK and ROI’s premier slush brands was looking to expand their business into the European market; specifically, they wanted to develop a range of slush flavours that were tailored to a European climate and culture.  The client brief was for us to research the local flavours and tastes that would allow us to to develop a range of flavours that would be unique, differentiated and appealing in those markets.  These new flavours were a crucial part of the client’s strategy to enter this new market.

Our Approach

The brief was very specific in terms of geography, taste and culture so our initial approach was to research these items in order that we could narrow down the potential flavours that we could develop. Our NPD process provided a unique experience for the brand, our flavour experts worked in conjunction with our inhouse market research function to ensure we developed the flavours that were a tight-fit with the brief.

 

Through an iterative process we perfected each flavour until they were ready to be blind taste tested by the client in our NPD laboratory.  Further iterations were produced before a final range of flavours were accepted as fulfilling the brief. Each flavour was supplied in the clients preferred packaging solution and labelled with their own branding, ready for sale in their slush machines at their customers retail outlets.

The Outcome

The client introduced these new flavours across their chosen new European markets. Over a period of time the client was able to grow their market share and today these flavours are being served in slush outlets across Europe.
